Project: PLN 846 100
Total value: PLN 846 100
Task description:
The aim of the teleradiotherapy research topic is to develop an ionometric primary water absorbed dose standard for photon beams produced in medical linear accelerators using a cylindrical ionisation chamber. In terms of implementing this issue using the industrial X-ray tomography method, the volume of the ionisation chamber (and consequently the mass of the air) will be determined, as well as the corresponding correction factors necessary to reproduce the kerma values in the air in the radiation fields of the radionuclides 137Cs and 60Co. The correction factors necessary to reproduce the water absorbed dose value in the radiation field of the radionuclide 60Co will be determined for internal comparison with the current GUM primary standard. The obtained results will allow to verify the methodology for determining the coefficients by Monte Carlo methods and developed numerical model.
The aim of the brachytherapy research topic is to create a national primary standard for the reference kerma power in air in the 192Ir radiation field, which would allow the equipment calibration stage to be transferred to a national level and shorten the chain of transferring a unit to the healthcare providers in the field of brachytherapy and calibration laboratories. In addition, it is planned to create a water absorbed dose standard for sources used in HDR brachytherapy.
